Volunteer work is a great opportunity to meet people and can be a vibrant, challenging, life-changing experience. Having volunteer experience on your CV or application form can also be an advantage to you when you leave university. Volunteering opportunities give you the chance to develop some of the key transferable skills which employers are looking for - e.g. teamwork, leadership, communication, time-management etc.
There are many types of volunteering such as: helping children learn to read, looking after sick or injured wild animals, doing conversation work, or helping a charity with administrative tasks. UWE has its own scheme called the Community Volunteer Programme which makes it easy for you to find a volunteer role which suits your interests, your skills and the amount of spare time that you have. They also offer certificates for volunteers who achieve over 10 hours of volunteering and free training sessions for all.
