On the 1st July 2007, Enlgand introduced a new law to make virtually all enclosed public spaces and workplaces in England smokefree. This means that it is against the law to smoke in the indoor parts of places such as shopping centres, pubs, bars, nightclubs, cafes and restaurants.
No smoking signs should be displayed in all smokefree premises and vehicles to make it clear where you can and can't smoke.
Smoking is not allowed on University premises or grounds except in areas specifically set aside for smoking and clearly marked as such.
It is always a good idea to ask first when visiting a person's home if you are allowed to smoke and don't be offended if you are asked to smoke outside.
