Any accidents causing injury and near misses that occur on a University site should be reported as soon as possible so that steps can be taken to prevent a recurrence. You should complete an accident report form, available from your faculty office or the UWE Safety Unit (Personnel Services, Frenchay Campus, tel. (0117) 32 82596).
If you are likely to be absent for a prolonged period as a result of a serious illness, injury or infectious condition, it is essential that you notify your faculty and provide relevant evidence (e.g. medical certificates). The consequences of your illness for your studies clearly depend on its severity, when it occurs and the timing of examinations and assessment deadlines. Your faculty will advise you of any steps you need to take.
