How can I find out about graduate employment outside the UK?

UK employers seeking to recruit international students to work in their home countries sometimes advertise on the websites listed at: http://www.uwe.ac.uk/careers/students/job_find/job_find_index.shtml

Alternative sources of information include:

  • AGCAS country profiles, which include most of the countries from which UWE draws its students (http://www.prospects.ac.uk/links/countries). These country profiles provide an overview of working in a range of countries around the globe. Each one covers the job market, sources of advice when abroad, application procedures, vacancy sources, language requirements, work experience, postgraduate study, visa and immigration and information sources. The sections on vacancy sources and application procedures are particularly useful as they contain information about preferred methods of application and CV formats, links to employer directories and links to online editions of national newspapers and recruitment agencies
  • The Riley Guide (www.rileyguide.com) provides an excellent guide to employment opportunities and resources on the net. It highlights employers who offer entry level positions suitable for new graduates as well as those US based firms who are willing to consider non US citizens who would be sponsored for visas. It also has a specific section devoted to international opportunities
  • The Kidon Media-Link (www.kidon.com/media-link) has links to international newspapers, magazines and other news sources and can be searched by country and continents
  • Corporate Information (www.corporateinformation.com) includes useful information on businesses in over 80 countries. You can search by company, country or industry
  • The Overseas Jobs Express (www.overseasjobs.com) newspaper is available on-line and allows keyword and location seraches
  • Kompass (www.kompass.com) has useful information on two million companies in 70 countries. Some services are free but there is a charge for more in-depth information
  • Your High Commission or Embassy may have information about UK or Global companies with links to your home country
