Counselling offers an opportunity to talk - completely confidentially - about personal issues in private with someone who has no other role in your life. Some of the areas for which this can be useful are:

  • adjusting to university life
  • managing assignments
  • stress and panic about studies or exams
  • bereavement and loss
  • anxiety and panic
  • depression
  • eating issues
  • low self-confidence
  • relationship difficulties

You do not have to be in crisis - anything that troubles you is worth our time. Whatever your difficulty, we will welcome and support you.

The service is staffed by qualified practitioners. Initial interviews are with a senior counsellor with whom clients can discuss the value of a series of individual or group counselling sessions. It is possible to arrange counselling sessions that are conducted by telephone or email. A list of services and agencies outside UWE is available fromStudent Services reception and a series of information leaflets on personal issues can be found on theStudent Servicesweb pages.
