Are there any community organisations outside of UWE that might be able to provide social contacts?

Bristol is a multi-cultural city right on the countryside's doorstep, a place that offers the best of both worlds. It offers many cultural and community organisations that cover a wide range of social areas, such as sport, faith or religion, education, arts, community development, disabled, women, gay/lesbian/bi-sexual, and ethnic groups.

A useful organisation is the Bristol International Student Centre (BISC). They seek to link the international students at Bristol's universities and colleges with local people and each other. They run an international students cafe in Horfield, in Bristol and an international students cafe in the Octagon at the Frenchay Campus of UWE every Friday during term time at 12.30 to 14.00.

Bristol City Council also produce a database of local organisations that might be off interest on their website. In particular there are contact details for international friendship groups or organisations.

Student Services also organises monthly trips and several social evenings for international students and friends.
