Each bus has a number and destination marked on the front that identifies the route it will take. For example, the number 70 bus has a route from the city centre to the Frenchay Campus and back. If you catch a number 70 bus with the destination 'UWE' displayed on the front, it means that the bus is going from the city centre towards the Frenchay Campus. Similarly, if you catch a number 70 bus with the destination 'CENTRE', it means that the bus is going from the Frenchay Campus towards the city centre.
The majority of bus stops in Bristol clearly indicate the buses that will stop there and will often display timetable information. If you are in any doubt that the bus you are catching is the right one, you should ask the driver to confirm it is going where you want to go.
