How do I get to the University from Bristol, Heathrow or Gatwick airports?

For students arriving forthe start of the 2007 academic yearalso look atthe section 'I am a new student, when I arrive in the UK will someone collect me from the airport?'.

Bristol International Airport

By coach - The Bristol International Flyer coach service runs every 15 minutes (from 03:00 until 23:20) between Bristol airport, Bristol Temple Meads train station and Bristol Marlborough Street Bus and Coach Station. A ticket costs £5 for a single ticket and £7 for a return ticket.

By taxi - A taxi from Bristol International Airport to Bristol City Centre costs approximately £15.

Heathrow Airport

By coach - You can take the National Express coach service from the central bus station outside the terminal buildings and from Terminal 3. There is a direct service to Bristol's Marlborough Street bus and coach station about everytwo hoursand costs around £30. You can buy tickets from the National Express office at the terminal or in advance at National Express Airport or at National Express.

By train - The Heathrow Express will take you to Paddington train station where you can get a train to Bristol Temple Meads station in the city centre or Bristol Parkway station (which is closer to Frenchay, Glenside and St Matthias Campuses).

Alternatively, you can take the Railair Link (a one-hour coach journey) to Reading train station followed by a one-hour train journey to Bristol Temple Meads. It costs approximately £30. Before boarding, you need to buy a ticket from the rail ticket desk in the arrival hall at each of the terminals at Heathrow. See National Rail Enquiries for details.

Gatwick Airport

By coach - National Express coaches leave from outside both the North and South terminals. The journey to Bristol's Malborough Street bus and coach station takes about three and a half hours and costs approximately £35 (single). Please note that there are no connections to Bristol from Gatwick during the night. You can buy tickets from the National Express office at the terminals or in advance on the website.

By train - A frequent train service operates from Gatwick to Reading Station from where another train journey will take you to Bristol. The journey from Gatwick to Bristol takes aboutthree hours and costs approximately £30. See National Rail for details.

Travelling to UWE Campuses

From Marlborough Street Bus and Coach Station

The information desk at the station has details available on how to get to UWE campuses and will also be able to help you find the best way to get to your accommodation. It is open 07.00 until 20.00.

From Temple Meads train station

To Bower Ashton, take buses 8 or 9 or the Rail Link to Haymarket (by Debenhams). From Haymarket, cross via the underpass to the Bus and Coach Station and then follow the instructions above.

To get to Frenchay, Glenside or St Matthias Campuses, take buses 8 or 9 to Haymarket (by Debenhams), then the70, X84 or 5A buses leave from across the road.

From Parkway train station

Take bus number X84, 312, 318, 319, 581 or 680 to Frenchay Campus.

To Glenside and St Matthias, take the 581 bus towards Longwell Green, get off at Blackberry Hill for Glenside Campus and College Road for St Matthias Campus.

Travelling to Hartpury College

From Heathrow

Take a National Express coach to Gloucester bus station for about £30. The journey takes about 3 hours. You can buy tickets at the National Express offices at the terminal or at www.nationalexpress.com.

Alternatively, take the Heathrow Express from the airport to Paddington train station then take a train to Gloucester, which will take about two hours. Check National Railway for journey details.

From Gloucester bus station (across from the train station) take number 351 to Hartpury College, the bus will stop on top of the road, which you will need to follow down for about 20 minutes to reach the campus. During term time, there is a dedicated bus service (568) directly to the campus.
