How much should accommodation in Bristol cost?

Information about the cost of accommodation can be found in the International Student Accommodation Guide.

Gas, electricity and water charges are not usually included in self-contained accommodation. You should make your own arrangements for the payment of bills. It is strongly recommended that you contact the gas and electricity companies which supply your accommodation to inform them in writing of the meter readings at the beginning and end of your tenancy.

If you choose to live in 'Resident Landlord' accommodation - living with the landlord in his or her house - gas and electricity charges are usually included in the rent. However, you should confirm this with your landlord before you move into a property.

If you want a telephone, or internet connection you should make arrangements to get the line reconnected. The contract with the telephone companies is usually in one person's name only and it is important to be aware of the problems this can cause with regard to bill payment in a shared house. For Resident Landlord accommodation you should have an agreement with the landlord regarding the use of the telephone and/or internet connection.

Landlords are normally responsible for payment of water and sewerage bills, however you should check your contract for reference to this.
